A Clinical Analysis of chemonucleolysis for Herniated Lumbar Disc

Abstract
|
|
|
The authors analysed 37 patients treated with chympapain for hernited lumbar discs from July 1994 to May 1995 at the Dept. of Neurosurgery, Pusan Army Force Military Hospital.
Prior to intradiscal injection of chymopapain in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, Conray contrast medium was injected for discogram.
The results were more favorable in the younger groups.
The favorable results were obtained in 97%.
In conclusion, chemonucleolysis is a safe and effective nonsurgical method for treatment of herniated lumbar discs.
